A key solution is altering public policy to mandate the integration of environmental costs into the true cost of goods.  Some analysts have calculated the true cost of a hamburger at 35 dollars, o­nce the costs of soil depletion, water pollution, and biodiversity loss are factored in.  National tax incentives can redirect large flows of captial into more sustainable enterprises.
