Thus nature leads into nature--the wilderness--and the reciprocities and balances by which man lives o­n earth. Ecology: "eco" (oikos) means "house" (cf. "ecumenical"): Housekeeping o­n Earth, Economics, which is merely the housekeeping of various social orders--taking more than it puts back--must learn the rules of the greater realm.
