Political pragmatism creates a self-fulfilling prophecy

Written by David Korten

The politically pragmatic observer will point out that a just, sustainable, and peaceful world is a good idea, but given the power of the pro-growth, pro-trade, relationship-monetizing, monopoly-creating, money-seeking, corporate-robot-serving establishment, they are not politically feasible.  True.

If, however, we limit ourselves to what is politically feasible, we in effect declare that human survival is politically infeasblle.  That creates a self-fulfilling prophecy and assures that we will end up where we are going.
