It has always been politics

It has always been politics.  But there is a higher result--a resistance to our energetic capacity to invade and destroy our public lands.

Conservation is part of our enactment of democracy based on the democratic ideals expressed by James Wilson, secretary of agriculture under President Taft:  "...the greatest good to the greatest number for the longest time."  As locals tied to the exploitive susceptibility of the land we live on, we wind up thanking our federal government for saving us from ourselves.  A nation's appetite for beauty transcends a state's hunger for greed.
