We have earned the title of the "Ugly American"

Written by Stephen Dinan quote 7

America has too often resembled a society of adolescents, more concerned with building our own status, comfort, and power rather than leaving a legacy of service.  We have feasted on the riches of the world as the biggest consumers on the planet while the global environment deteriorates.  We have thrown our weight around on the world stage, often without respect for other countries.  We have undermined significant global accords and treaties if they put any constraints on our behavior.  We profess to be a generous country and yet we give a smaller percentage of our GDP to overseas development than other major developed economies--only 19% of our gross national income, which places us in 19th place.
