America' founding genocide

Written by Stephen Dinan quote 8

The first historical face that has been written  about by many but which we as a nation have never adequately aced, understood, and integrated is the fact that we are a country founded on genocide.  We celebratSed the history of our Founding Fathers and forget that they were living on land taken from decimated peoples.  The continent that Europeans "discovered" had a long history of settlement, with a great diversity of societies.  In 1492, there were and estimated 10 to 18 Indigenous people north of Mexico.  After a few hundred years of conquest and disease, less than one million Native Americans remained.  Let that fact sink:  America was founded on a Native American genocide larger that Hitler's genocide of Jews (six million killed.)
